Bob Boud Award |
|
This award began in 1995 and is in remembrance of Bob’s enduring love of Corvettes. The award recognizes an individual who is solely selected by our Club President for his or hers commitment and contribution to the British Columbia Corvette Club over the year.
So who was Bob Boud?
Well, he was just another ordinary fella with an extraordinary passion for cars. Especially Corvettes. If you were willing to listen, he could talk for hours about cars… or anything else for that matter!
Sound familiar?
He joined the BCCC in 1992 and was proud to be a BCCC member, participating in a Club, which did not judge who you were, or what type of Vette you drove. It didn’t matter if it was a “survivor”, a “numbers” car, or a work in progress. Everyone shared the same enthusiasm around their beloved Vette and Club activities. Bob made it his priority to attend all club meetings and functions, as he enjoyed the camaraderie of others which was important to him.
Bob owned several Corvettes over the years, his first being – in 1964 – a 1962 fuel injected roadster, only to be totaled a few months later.
He rekindled his love of the Corvette in 1990, owning a ’64 coupe and a ’64 roadster, and later a ’65 roadster.
In the spring of 1995 Bob was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and passed away in July.
This trophy is not about Bob Boud, but the amazing individuals whose tireless efforts make this Club what it is and has been since 1965. Building friendships. Sharing information. And welcoming new Vette enthusiasts to join in our Club activities.
The recipients of the Bob Boud Memorial Trophy are recognized leaders and contributors to the success of our Club.
Congratulations to this year’s and all past year’s recipients!
